Built for your family. Backed by generations of mine.

What started as a passion project, getting back to the days I spent working alongside my grandfather in his shop, has grown into something much more. Some of my earliest memories are of time spent with him and my grandmother, learning by watching, asking questions, and slowly understanding what it meant to build something with your hands. My grandparents were both whip smart small business owners that came from dirt floors in rural Texas. What began as a way to reconnect with them has turned into a commitment to doing things the right way: with patience, intention, and respect for the craft.

Before starting Redbud Timberworks, I spent nearly two decades working in finance and accounting between New York City and Houston. That background shaped how I approach this work: focused, disciplined, transparent, and built around long-term value. What you put in your home should add more than function, it should be something worth investing in, something that lasts.

Woodworking runs deep in my family. Generations ago, my great-great-grandfather, James Carrel Bell, operated a cabinet and wood shop in Fayette County after the Texas Revolution. That legacy, built on hard work, resourcefulness, and pride in what you make, has been carried forward ever since. Five generations later, I’m still living, working, and sourcing wood from the same place my family did almost 200 years ago.

At its core, this work is about more than furniture. It’s about family, integrity, and community. Every piece is built with the idea that it will live in someone’s home, be used daily, and eventually be passed down. Not just functional, but meaningful, something that tells a story and earns its place over time.

I am very fortunate to have a family that stands behind and is a part of this work every step of the way. My wife, a dedicated school teacher, supports and helps direct my love and passion for the craft and my family legacy. Our kids, curious, driven, and always watching, and are a constant reminder of why this matters. The goal is simple: build something worth keeping, and set an example they can carry forward. Whether it’s a custom piece designed around your space or a concept brought to life from an idea, the goal is always the same: build it right, build it to last, and build something that means something.

From our family to yours, thank you for letting us be a part of your homes story.
